As the hours ticked by, fans strategized their positions around the circular stage, feeling privileged to have scored tickets for this highly sought-after tour. But here's where it gets controversial... the war in Gaza has cast a shadow over the band's actions.
The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel called for a boycott of the tour, citing band member Jonny Greenwood's 2024 performance in Tel Aviv. This sensitive topic has divided fans, especially in Spain, where support for Palestine is strong.
"It would've been great if they'd spoken out sooner," said Lola, 22, who requested anonymity. "As a Radiohead fan, I was a bit disappointed. But I think they've learned from it."
Lola referenced an incident in Melbourne where Thom Yorke, the band's frontman, briefly left the stage after a pro-Palestinian heckler shouted about the genocide in Gaza.
